A Closet That Fits

@missvanediva

There’s an infamous saying, “if the shoe fits, wear it”- but any closet expert will add “make sure you have a closet that fits them, as well.”

There are many amazing companies that specialize in assembling dream closets. These companies fabricate with the best wood, source the best finishes, and staff experience professionals. They’re skilled at getting your shelving perfectly symmetrical in your space, ensuring that your mirrors are facing the right angles for those grand photo-ops, and even go as far as installing top of the line electrical systems to make sure the lighting is just right. Those are some of the amazing attributes we look for when scouting a company to assemble the perfect closet, all while forgetting the items that need to be stored. Here are a few things to consider when getting your dream closet renovated.

  1. Hanging Space and Lengths

The amount of space you designate for your hanging items is very important; you can never have too much. When consulting with your designer, be sure to mention the amount of items that need to be hung. A  best practice will be to show them exactly what  you have and add additional hanging space from there. Always be sure to include your dress and outerwear collection into the conversation. This will help your designer implement the adequate lengths for hanging space. If having both is not an option, always opt for all long hanging space.

2. Adjustable Shelving

Shoes and handbags comes in many different shapes and sizes. If you’re planning to stage your shoes and handbags in your closet, it looks best when the shelving is a functional size for all of your items. For an example, be sure to discuss the amount of boots your have to ensure that your designer create a designated place to store them. Aside from boots, remember to consider heel length. The average heel length ranges from 3-4 inches tall, but keep in mind that you may have to adjust your shelves to fit that one (or many) 7 inch pump in your collection.

3. Leave Room to Grow

Closets are meant to inspire you, not only to get dressed, but to shop as well. Avoid the overwhelming feeling of your closet being too stuffy after your perfect renovation. Be sure to take advantage of the decluttering process with your organizer, but also let your designer know that you want to grow into your space.
